Can you tell the differences between the Before & After photos? It’s OK if you can’t.
Sometimes an exterior remodel is not about major transformation. Sometimes you just like the way your house looks but still need new siding, roofing and windows.
Here’s the story of completely renovating the exterior of a St. Louis home without altering too much of its style.

Sometimes an exterior remodel is not about major transformation. Sometimes you just like the way your house looks but still need new siding, roofing and windows.

Here’s the story of completely renovating the exterior of a St. Louis home without altering too much of its style.

This home was designed and built by the owner in the 1970s. When water leaks appeared and the cedar siding began to fail, Mosby Building Arts was called in to solve the water problems and install all new siding, roofing and flashing.
The original cedar vertical siding was no longer available, so Mosby carpenters recreated it with plywood and cedar lumber, and matched the stain to what the home looked like when it was new. It once again shines like a copper penny!

The Return of the Eat-In Kitchen

We recently completed this kitchen remodel in Des Peres, MO. A 1970s kitchen was overdue for an update, and by removing an extra door to the backyard, the space was enlarged and made 21st century fabulous.

You expect a certain level of satisfactory service from a hotel stay or restaurant meal. Remodeling companies should be held to the same standards, especially because they are working inside your home. 9s: How do you choose the best home remodelers for a project?

SCOTT MOSBY: When looking for a doctor, do we shop by price or by expertise and care? Some things – like your health - are just too important to shop by price. Same goes for your house, which just might be your biggest financial investment. So, you need to protect that.

To avoid feeling ripped off, look for quality; because the benefit of paying for quality is that you pay for it once. There’s no value in paying to correct a problem. Bad work requires double the time and money to fix, many times costing you more than the original quote from a company that strived to do it right the first time.

The old saying “you get what you pay for” really applies to remodeling projects. You deserve honest work for an honest price. A quality professional considers all the details to come up with a fair price for the work, which should also be backed with a warranty. You need to feel secure that they will be there in the future to support you.

This kind of quality and service usually comes with a higher price tag. But think about the price and quality difference between different models of cars from the same automaker. That same concept applies to the companies you let work on your home.

Thank you to writer Amy Burger and photographer Laurie Skrivan for this piece in Saturday’s St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Our client wanted to open up the first floor of her Central West End condo, so we knocked down some walls, added some new built-in cabinets and revamped the fireplace for a more modern look.

Check out the photo gallery and count how many times her cats photo bomb!

Mosby Building Arts is a 2014 Top Work Place winner, #24 on the list of 40 small businesses that earned the distinction.

This is Mosby’s second year in a row to make this list. It’s expcially rewarding because it’s only possible because Mosby employees said so! Here’s how Top Work Places are identified.
